Does everyone do a mock transfer for IVF?

I had my full physical today and my mock transfer. Which is a fancy way of the RE just checking which catheter they need to use for er/et. It was very similar to an iui. I had no issues, thank goodness and it was pretty uneventful. My RE said some women have a narrow uterus or it can be shaped different and they don't want to be fumbling around on the day of er/et. This is basically just to ensure everything goes smoothly.

I think that's great. I'm just wondering, does everyone who goes through IVF have this (mock transfer) done ? Thanks ladies.

With my first IVF I did not have a mock transfer. My new RE required it for my 2nd IVF. It's such a quick process you would think they could do a quick test run the day of transfer.

The IVF protocols at my clinic include a mock transfer. Thanks for giving a description. That doesn't sound bad at all.

I didn't do one. He also didn't do my IUIs so I guess he just doesn't do the mock.

Nope, and I've had 2 IVF procedures with 2 different doctors. It was never even mentioned.

My dr does a mock transfer before each IVF cycle.

Nope, I asked at my baseline if a mock transfer needed to be done and was told my RE doesn't do them. They gave me an explanation, I don't remember what it was though.

I honestly can't remember if I had one with IVFs 1&2 (with my original RE). But with my new RE, I had one when I first met her and then one just before the actual ETs (minutes before).

I'm glad yours went well! I liked the extra peace of mind knowing they knew exactly what they were getting into with my body!

I had one done at both clinics. It turns out that i have a tight cervix and a tilted uterus that requires a use of a special cathether. I also found out that I don't need to drink all the water they say b/c my bladder is really tiny and the overful bladder made the other problems worse. It took the first RE 45 minutes to do my mock. I personally was glad I had a mock - I wouldn't have wanted to find all this out on my first ET.

Yes I am required to have one done. My cervix and uterus have caused some tricky issues for my IUI's so I'm glad to have the mock transfer (they call it a sounding) done.That's also the day we'll be signing all of the IVF forms in the office too.

I didn't have one, but that was only because I had a saline hysteroscopy to measure size /shape of my uterus. My HSG showed my uterus was slightly T shaped, so they did the hysteroscopy to measure it etc.

Had I not had this done, then yes I would have needed a mock transfer.

My first RE did one, but at the same time as the SHG. Second RE ordered the SHG long before I could cycle but let my local OB do it, and did no mock transfer. IDK if this is because he had my records from first RE and already knew what was done.

I had one before IVF#1, but my RE doesn't require one for subsequent IVFs.

Also if it goes smoothly, my new RE does not require a full bladder fortransfer YAY!

My clinic does one at the beginning of your cycle at the same time as they do your SHG.

I know I needed one for my first IVF but I am not entirely sure if I will need one for my 2nd.

My clinic did not do a mock ET with me, but I did have a hysteroscopy done there. I think they had a pretty good idea what they were working with from having that done.

I had a mock transfer for the 1st IVF & had one during my HSG for the 2nd IVF since we had switched RE's.

Not every RE does one.

Just depends. I had one before IVF #1
