Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Ugh. I don't know whats wrong with her hand!

Peyton keeps crying/whining about her hand.  She will cry and hold it open palm to you.  Sometimes she will pinch it..but it's been probably a week and a half.  I'm half trying to ignore it half trying to indulge it.  If she keeps getting attention then she might 'act' like it's hurting.

When she had her bandages off from her burn (same hand..) then she kept showing everyone her hand.  She didn't whine though, she just showed it to you.

I also found a little knot behind her ear...so i'm guessing swollen lymphnode.  I may just take her to the walk-in clinic and see whats up with her ears.  She's been poking them but she always pokes them..sooo it's hard to tell.  She has her 15 month appt but if she has an ear infection I don't want her to wait until Wed.

But, as for her hand, i'm at a loss.  She fell (when doesn't she?) pretty bad about 2 weeks ago and i was worried about that hand/wrist but it never got swollen or turned blue.  She also had an IV in it on Sat 22nd.

I've noticed both of her hands stay cold a lot too.

Ugh.  my poor child.  the pedi is going to start thinking i'm a nut case.

Re: Ugh. I don't know whats wrong with her hand!

  • if her hands are cold, that could mean poor circulation and her hands could be tingling- hence the weird gestures to it. (like when YOUR hand falls asleep-type of sensation)

  • could you put a bandaid on it?

This is what i'm thinking, my cousin has reynaud's syndrome  (SP) but her hands never change colors or anything.  I suppose it could be the beginning of a circulation problem.  I mean at this point, why not.

  • I don't know if this is similar but DS went through a phase of putting every little crumb into his mouth and of course he got attention because we tried to get it out. Well, now he fakes putting things in his mouth like its a game and he laughs and opens his mouth when we ask him to show us.

I wouldn't disregard your other concerns, but it reminded me of DS's little game.
