In the middle of the night last night, our daughter came to find us in our bedroom. My heart nearly stopped when I saw her there, and I still have no idea how she climbed out... She was an early walker, and she is adventurous, but she is small for her age, and she's not even 18 months yet! I wasn't ready for this yet... Any advice about what to do now? My husband didn't want to put her back in the crib last night for fear that she would fall out if she attempted again, so she spent the rest of the night with us in bed. Needless to say, no one got a lot of sleep, and I don't want to set a precedent of her coming to our bed in the middle of the night. I don't know what to do... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Re: My daughter climbed out of her crib! Advice, please.
I have heard that crib tents work--haven't tried one yet myself since my girls haven't yet tried to get out of their cribs, but if they do I think I'll give a tent a shot. I am not ready for everything that would come along with a move to a toddler bed!

I also heard crib tents are great.

I think it's just that particular one. That one they are talking about is made for a playpen. I've never seen one for a real crib have those plastic clips before. Thanks for that link though!
...it also says the child that died was strangled because they were able to pop the clips off so the tent was then tied with a nylon cord. The 3 other situations when the kids popped the clips off were not injured. The way its written makes you believe it might have been because it was also tied with the cord as opposed to just being clipped on.
First option would be to get a crib tent.
Second option would be, if you have one of those cribs that are designed where one side is higher than the other, (just talking the style of the crib, not talking drop-side) turn the crib so the shorter side is to the wall and the higher side is out. Making it more difficult to get out.
Third option, which we just had to do this one ourselves -- buy a toddler bed, cross your fingers and hope for the best. DD has done really well at bed time staying in her bed and not falling out (since it has side rails on it) but nap time is H.E.L.L.

See if she iven continues to do it. My dd climber out of her crib one day at naptime and snuck up behind me like 15 seconds after I put her down. I was shocked! She did it again when I laid her back down. So I thought we were going to be fighting this from now til the toddler bed. When I put her down that night, she didn't even try to climb out and hasn't since (that was at least a month ago). So, you may have some time yet!
I looked into a crib tent but couldn't find one that would work on our crib- its curved and talled in the back than it is in the front. Just something to consider if you go that route! GL
