Babies: 6 - 9 Months

LO with tubes already??? :-(

I just got back from the pediatricians office and they are sending LO to an ENT specialist to talk about getting tubes in. He's had fluid in his ears since 3 months old and has had about 4 infections.

Has anyone else gone through this? I feel like he's too little to get tubes, but the dr. assured me he's not.

  • I don't have experience personally, but I know a number of people whose kids have gotten tubes very young.  I know it sounds scary, but it's a very simple surgery, and kids bounce back so quick.  Plus, it'll make such a difference when the ear infections stop.

  • We just got referred to an ENT for the same thing. I know how you feel.
  • DS is on that route. . they are saying that one more ear infection, we will have to go to the ENT for tubes.  The last time, how we cleared up the fluid was the nebolizer. .
  • We are on our 3rd set of ear infections here. My coworker was just telling me today her son got tubes at 9 months and did very well with them....GL!

  • When I was a baby, I had two sets before I was a year old!!!  Like a PP said, it seems way worse than it really is (not that I remember, but I also know many people with LOs who have had them).

It helps them SOOOO much.  GL!

  • My son got his at 7 months also.  We had a similar situation:  3 infections in the right...the last one was still bad after 2 rounds of antibiotics, 1 infection in he left ear with fluid that stuck around in that ear for months.  I was nervous, but he spent his whole time before and after the surgery flirting with nurses and his ears have done much better since then!
