bottle sterilizer

hi everyone~ how many of you plan on using a bottle sterilizer? or for those of you second time moms, do you think a bottle sterilizer is necessary, or do you think just using a dishwasher and the sterilize feature enough? thanks!

  • not everyone has a dishwasher, believe it or not. So i will be getting a bottle sterilizer.
Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months. Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • The steaming bags are just as good and can be used 20 times each.

I only steralized once then hand washed everything after that so you do not need one even if you o not have a DW. Hot soapy water is fine after initial boiling.

  • i know, i am probably just over paranoid. i fully admit that :)

  • With DD we just washed the bottle by hand every night/day/whatever and then when the dishwasher was set to be run or at least once a week we would put the bottles in with the other stuff. And every once in a while, if she was getting over a cold or something I would boil the nipples, just to to reassure myself they were clean.

  • My mother managed to raise 4 babies without a bottle sterilizer, a microwave, or a dishwasher!  We're all still alive and well.  Crazy I know!!
  • It is hard to NOT be as a first time Mom. You want to do everything right. It is a-okay.

Agreed. I was the same way... you just want to do what is right and it can be scary to make those judgement calls. Honestly, I kinda feel bad for this baby because sometimes I feel like she is getting jipped out of things because I already learned it will be okay with/without. But the most important thing, is to just go with your instinct and what you think will work for your family and your child!
