Babies: 0 - 3 Months

What time do you put baby to bed?

LO is just about 3 months and she seems to want to go to bed earlier and earlier.  We used to put her to bed around 7:30-8 but now it seems like closer to 6-6:30 is when she shows signs of wanting to sleep.  That just seems so early. She does not nap well during the day so I am thinking maybe she needs an earlier bed time to make up for the few naps she takes.

  • DD goes to bed around 11. We just let her choose her own schedule, which is gradually getting earlier.

  • Sebastian is done for tge day between 6-7pm. Ice tried getting him to go to bed later and it didn't work...he woke up at tge same times throughout the night and in the morning. He sleeps till 12:30, eats, sleeps till 4:30, eats, sleeps till 7:30 and is up for the day.

ETA: This is how it goes regardless of his daily naps. Sometimes he naps all day and other days he just takes little cat naps.

  • Just put LO to sleep and now bumping! haha She goes down between 7:30 and 8 and wakes up around 2am for a feeding (about 15 mins) and then around 6ish. This is regardless of her daily schedule and it's been getting earlier, it used to be between 8 and 9. Can't complain, but I feel like she's eating less in the evening and just passing out after her shower instead of eating a little more :(
  • I've read that around 6:30 is actually a very normal bedtime for a baby.  It seems early to us, but most kids are early risers by nature and if they are going to get 10-12 hours of night sleep (eventually!), they need to go to bed this early.

  • We were doing 6-630, but I wanted to make it later so I'd have more time with him after work.  Currently, we start the bedtime routine at 730, and he's usually asleep by 830. I hope it doesn't start getting earlier again!

  • DD goes to bed around 6:30 - 7 pm. About a month ago, she was going down for the night around 10 pm, but she has gradually gotten earlier and earlier. Frankly, I love this bedtime! DS goes to bed right after, so DH and I have some alone time each evening now.

  • He goes down between 6 and 7. He'll wake up between 2 and 3 wanting to be fed, again between 5 and 6, and he's up for the day at 8. He takes three naps during the day when he's not going through this effing growth spurt.
  • The last few days we've been trying to make bedtime between 8 and 9. For awhile she would wake up at 11 so she wasn't getting her bedtime routine (pajamas, lotion, etc) until 11:30ish.

  • She's gradually moved her bed time earlier and earlier.  She now goes down between 7 & 7:30, I can see it becoming 6:30 soon.  She sleeps for about 12 hours. It was the same with DS as I recall.

  • It's getting earlier and earlier because he's been a craptastic napper lately.  We recently moved it to around 8:30, but tonight we moved it back again to 8:00.  I wouldn't be surprised if we have to move it even earlier within the next few days.  The kid just refuses to take a nap in the late afternoon/early evening.  It's like 5:00 rolls around and he just decides he's done sleeping until it's bedtime.  No matter what I do I cannot get him to take another little nap after that time.

And like pp's have said, he seems to wake around the same times no matter what time he goes down.  Last night he was asleep at 8:30, woke to eat at 2:45, then woke again to eat around 6:45, then back to sleep until about 10:00 when he was up for the day.

  • It started out around 10-10:30.  Then it was 9-9:30.  Now he's getting tired/fussy around 8, so I get him in jammies and give him his bottle and usually he's asleep by 8:30-8:45 (sometimes longer).  Tonight he started to get fussy around 7, so I gave him his bath and all that jazz.  He was sleeping by 8:20.  It's 9:30 and he's still sleeping, if his dad doesn't wake him up with all his coughing (ugh. Angry).  Fine by me though, gives me more time to Bump!

  • DS1 went to bed at 6:30 for a long time!  Now he goes to bed at 7:30, at 16 months.

DS2 doesn't go to bed until 9pm but I am sure that will get earlier as he gets older.
