I just found out one of my close friends is pregnant. I'm going to put together a 1st trimester care package for her. Here's what's going in it so far: Ginger Ale, Ginger Tea, and Saltines. Any other ideas?
I'd say maybe some Vitamin E lotion for her belly so she doesn't get stretch marks, and maybe a sleep mask? I also liked the idea someone else posted about a baby name book or a week by week pregnancy book. Those were things that I was super interested in first trimester.

While that is not going to prevent her from getting stretch marks, I do think that's a good idea. My friend got me some cocoas butter, and while it can't prevent stretch marks, it feels good applying it to the belly!

Give her another option other than Ginger. I tried all the ginger crap when I first had m/s and it caused such horrible stomach pains I had to see my midwife. She suggested organic peppermint tea and that tea saved my life!! It's very soothing on your stomach and very healthy for your GI tract. Other than that, I like the idea of vitamin E lotion or cocoa butter (I prefer the cocoa butter) and a book of some sort. A funny pregnancy book I read was Pregnancy Sucks and there is one called Pregnancy Sucks - For Men that is also funny.

The best gift I received was a belly band from Target! I actually went and bought another one and wore them non-stop through the second trimester into the third...LOVED THEM!

How about Sea-Bands...those acupressure wrist bands to help with nausea? Those things really did help me. Have fun getting this all put together...you are such a great friend!

Isn't gum good for nausea? I'm not sure bc I didn't have it..
How about just some fruit like bananas, apples, oranges..
Belly bars
Some chocolate for a treat
Those nausea lollipops
Gatorate..
Bath salts / Bath bubbles.. Candle..
Anything baby related like a picture frame for her first u/s, a baby album..
I could go on and on
)
baby name book, cute stuffed animal, gender neutral outfit

Belly bars are a good idea like PP said...
A pregnancy book...I liked Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs for a good change from WTEWYE
A picture frame for when she gets her sonogram (they have really cute ones at hallmark!)
Maybe even a giftcared to Motherhood Maternity or somewhere like that (if your budget allows)

pantiliners, a belly band, lotion/oil, candy (chocolate or anything citrusy like starbursts)
and a snoogle, if you want to spend the $$
these have been my faves since day 1
