So upset and need advice

Today is my EDD and i had an appt yesterday. I was still 1-2cm and 80% effaced. I have been seeing a different OB in my practice each appt. because my Dr. went on maternity leave 1/2way through my pregnancy. I feel like none of them are on the same page and its really pissing me off. At last weeks appt. the dr. explained that if i had not delivered by my due date they would schedule an appt. for the following week. I asked how long they would let me go past my due date and she said no longer than a week. Yesterday, the doctor (a different one) said the nurse would be calling me to tell me when the induction had been scheduled for. I decided to call this afternoon and they proceeded to tell me it is scheduled for Feb 16th (12 days after my DD) and did not mention any follow up appts between now and then. Would this be frustrating to you? I understand that babies come when they are ready and can be as late as 42 weeks but that is not the information i was given. I was caught off guard and didn't ask any questions. I just called back and any waiting to hear from the nurse. I am not saying i want to be induced tomorrow but i think late next week is perfectly reasonable. What would you do?

Sorry to be so blunt, but I would call back because I would be capital P Piissed. If you are going to wait 12 days after your DD you need at least one appointment, IMO. Sure, many women have placentas that easily make it to two weeks, however, some women don't. Also, god forbid they are off on your due date by a week or so, well then you would be 19 days past your DD. I wouldn't worry too much because if something is wrong in there LO will let you know, i just think this is REALLY irresponsible on their part, so I would call and make a shiit show about it. But that's just me:)

I agree 100% with the previous post. I'm only 39 weeks and my placenta is already too calcified for me to go past my due date, so I would think you should most definitely have an appointment in between there. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with such an unorganized office this late in your pregnancy! I can't imagine how frustrated and upset you must be. Keep your chin up and call them back because that's the right thing to do for you and your LO! Even though this is what you're paying them for...

Thanks! I called back and they scheduled me for an appt on Thursday for follow up. I feel better knowing that he will at least get checked out again before the 16th. I am hoping that i will go on my own soon (even before Thursday). I know that 12 days late (I actually know my date of conception and its only 10 days late) isn't awful but when you get your mind caught up on a date it can be killer to unhook it. I appreciate your support and i've finally be able to stop crying! I will be eating pineapple and mall walking tomorrow. Hope that helps.

I agree with the PP. That is a bunch of BS. I would call back and tell them, "Apparently you are not a priority for them but your baby is a priority for you and you would appreciate it if they took your pregnancy a little more serious and with a little more care. You have been patient long enough to include being passed around from one unconcerned doc to another. Enough already."

I would explain to them what the doctor said about not going past one week and then ask them how they came up with 12 days later. I would also mention that the next doc said you were to be scheduled for another appt. I mean at this point, do they even know who your delivery dr will be???

You should express that you would appreciate a little more consideration and consistency. You shouldnt be treated like its your fault that your original dr had to leave and be replaced.
