I'm going to be away from Eliza tomorrow for about three or four hours. She usually eats once or twice during that time. Is it worth it to take my pump with me? (I'll have a break to pump.) I don't need to keep the milk, since she won't take a bottle, so it's not necessary to pump. But I just want to make sure I'm not screwing up my supply by missing a time when she usually eats.
Re: hey BFers - quick question
It won't screw up your supply to not pump during that time.
But if you're worried and have time to pump, it wouldn't hurt. Better to pump than to stress over not pumping.
agreed. If it were going to be more than 4 hours, I'd bring it. But for that amount of time, you'll probably be okay. A bit uncomfortable, but okay.

Ditto - when I go to work every other Friday I pump a few times, but not as often as DS eats. My supply had never been affected.
Just curious though, how will she eat if she doesn't take a bottle and you're away from her for 2 feedings? I've always wondered this when parents say their baby won't take a bottle.
I feel like I said that in a judging way .. that's not how I meant it - I'm just curious!

She just didn't eat ... an ounce was gone from the bottle, but Josh doesn't know how much of that actually got in her

Mathis was like that, too. When he was around 5 mos old, he decided it was better to go without than take from a bottle. Weird but he's 21 momnths now and healthy, so I guess he knew what he needed. Strange babies.
She sounds exactly like my girls. There were times I just had to get away anyway. I would stay for 4 hours tops and was fine and they were too.
We had a bit more success using syringes (like you get with antibiotics, etc, from cvs or walgreens). They would take some... until they would realize what they were drinking.
