My LO is almost 8 months old, the time in which our ped said to start some finger food such as the little cheerio looking snacks made for babies. I am so nervous to give them to her, scared she will choke. They don't even seem to dissolve in the mouth that quickly.
Any suggestions or feedback is appreciated!

My son likes the puffs, but they do make me nervous about choking...
I prefer things that squish in his mouth... diced baked potato is good, diced pears are really squishy. Also, if you're not SUPER picky, you could do what we found to be good. Get some of the chunky soups -- I like Annie's brand because it's organic and natural and low-sodium -- and feed LO the mushy vegetables & noodles from the soup. LO also LOVES the little meatballs in the Italian Wedding Soup.
I prefer those things over puffs & cereal and stuff like that at this point.

In no way am I trying to minimize your fears per se, as they are valid for Moms who have never really given their baby "real" food. Perhaps try reading up on baby led weaning.

These two links are just a start.
We have been giving DS anything we've been eating, except honey, and a few other items that are supposted to be withheld before 1 year old. DS eats cous cous, apples, grapes cut in quarters, avacado, red peppers, sweet potato, broccoli, chicken, sugar snap peas, pear, you name it. And we give it to him pretty much as we eat it, or cooked a little softer/with less spice/salt. He has never had a puree of any of these.
It's not for everyone but I hope those links ease your mind a bit.
