if you use oxiclean in your laundry

Is it just regular oxiclean or is there a particular variety? The kind below (Versatile Stain Removing Powder) is on sale at my meijer this week and I want to try it. We have the dingy whites problem that Brenda talked about.

Re: if you use oxiclean in your laundry

  • There is an OxiClean Free that we normally buy, but I wouldn't hestiate to buy the regular if I couldn't find the Free kind.

  • We've used the Free kind and an Oxiclean Baby.   I'd bet the regular stuff works well too.
  • We bought the Free because it was the same price (at Meijer a couple weeks ago).

I tried a whitening technique that I read online and it worked great!

Boil a huge pot of water, transfer the water to a sink, throw in a scoop or two of Oxiclean, mix it around, put your dingy whites in the sink, stir around for a little while with a spoon, and let sit for an hour. Rinse, then wash. We washed them using the Oxiclean as well.

I could not believe the difference it made.

Plus, my sink (they're white porcelain over iron) was seriously the cleanest it's EVER been. Literally, like, WHITE. Now I need to do the other side of the sink because it looks awful next to the bright white side.

I may start washing all of our whites in Oxiclean.

  • I've used both - just get whichever is on sale.  I keep a bucket on our laundry machine (it was actually a large bucket from Target's $1 spot that I had on hand).  I normally have that already prepared with water and oxi and the then I will toss in clothes as needed - like right now I think I have 2 of B's shirts soaking - when I do his laundry I will just grab them from there.
  • Wow, Brenda! Thanks!

    Thanks guys!

Good to know - I'll have to try this!

  • I buy it everytime Costco has it in their coupon book, which is every 4 months or so. It comes in a box, but I put in a bucket just like that. I actually do the same as Brenda, but just soak in the washing machine with warm/hot water.

I use it in all of our whites. I actually also just bought a detergent with Oxi in it. I can't remember the name, but its' a yellow bottle, I got it at Costco too. I like that I feel like can use it for all colors now.
