February 2011 Moms

This is a picture of me 3 minutes before I delivered. (not graphic at all.)

No, I wasn't asleep. This was while she was already descending the birth canal, but I didn't want to get my hopes up and think it was that so I didn't say anything to the nurses then! (BAD move, ladies- she almost slid out onto the table.) Med- free with a baby already descending- not too shabby, I think!

The only seriously shocking thing to me was right before I started pushing, I got the shakes REALLY bad. Like, my  legs were going so bad I couldn't even hold them up in the foot rests. And I shook like that for a good 8 minutes after, it was insane. I had epidurals with my other two, so my legs were numb and had to be held up and I had no idea about the shakes.

Oh, yes- one more triumph: NO HEMMIES!! I was sure I was going to have a ton or at minimum one big one, but nope...

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

  • Not one drop of sweat, you look awesome! Congrats on your little girl!

Oh and I had an epi with my son and couldn't stop shaking right before and after he was born. when they took him to wash up they wanted me to order dinner since the hospital cafe was closing any minute. I could not see a darn thing on that menu since I was shaking so hard. Not looking forward to that again, it's such an odd feeling.

  • People are only supposed to look this good in labor on tv!!!! haha! If I remember I'm going to take a picture before I deliver. I'm getting an epi, always have, and looked like a train wreck. I am very envious!

    This! Congratulations. I can't wait!!!!

My mom had 3 med-free births and said she got the shakes for all three of them. I think it's just one of our body's many ways of dealing with all the stress.

  • You look amazing! Congratulations on your little girl!
  • Oh Tiff you look so beautiful, and you handled everything so beautifully!

I  also got the shakes REALLY bad after I had both kids.  I think it is/was adrenaline. It is so amazing what our bodies can do...

And on my final note-My hemmies didn't get any worse either!  I have my one/two buddies that come and go but they didn't think it was cool to show up this time around for DS's birth.

  • You look so calm - way to go!  I've had med-free deliveries with both my boys now, and my legs shook like crazy, too!

  • It was definitely an amazing experience. :) I wanted to encourage all mommas who wanted to go med-free that it doesn't have to be the scream-fests you see on tv. Especially the hypnobirthing moms, a lot of people are skeptics and it's hard to do something you haven't seen too many people do.

Whew, I'm so glad those shakes are normal! I had absolutely NO idea. I didn't shake like that after either of my last two, so it was very shocking. Especially since she was already out.

If it wasn't so graphic I'd totally post my 2 minute labor video! It's pretty graphic though and it might make some FTMs sick, lol.
