We've had these posts before about clothes, but I've come to think most thing's for boys are just an afterthought.
Example: I've been thinking about bedding for when we move M to a big boy bed. I settled on what I want and I really like it, but I think I really like it because it's so different from other boy's bedding.
I mean, girl's bedding could be bought when they're 2 but still be appropriate when they're 10 - not that it would last that long.
Boy's bedding is all sports themed or outdoor themed or has something to do with Star Wars. Well what if, in a few years, he hates baseball and camping and, God forbid, could care less about Star Wars? Where's the cute, non-themed stuff for boys?
Re: Boy's Bedding vent
PBK has cute plaids that are nice for boys.
But, yes, I know your pain. The same thing was true 19 years ago when I had Nate and it wasn't any better when I had Alex.
*ETA* What did you pick out? PIP/linky please.
I started looking and think I am going to do what I did with my own bedding, go with a solid color comforter/duvet cover and then go crazy with the sheets. Okay my sheets aren't crazy but YKWIM.
I found some cool comforters that have an elastic at the bottom so they fit like a fitted sheet half way down. Matt moves all over the crib now so I don't think he would like it until he gets bigger and cannot squirm around so much.
Like I said I finally found one set I like, but it still makes me sad that little boys either have to be into sports or Disney characters. Or boats, boats seem to be big too.
My Blog

I hate monkeys and safari type stuff. So that weeded out 90% of the stuff you find for boys.
C has a NauticaKids discontinued set that's maroon and tan with tugboats. I can live with that, since it's a bit different than the usual boat motif.
DH is a rocket scientist, so we might be going with a space theme when he's bigger. Rockets, stars, planets, etc.
