Baby Kya decided to come early!

Well, I've joined the ranks of the February mamas turned January mamas. I had my 36 week appointment last wednesday and the doctor said I was 1 cm dilated and baby was still pretty high. On Thursday DH and I had a busy day with a baby shower and bible study in the evening. We got home around 10:30 and got into bed. I had been having BH (not unusual as of late) all night but they started to hurt and be closer together as I was laying in bed. Then, I felt a "pop" and thought my water had broken. I felt my panties but nothing was coming out so I figured it must have been something else. As the contractions got stronger I got up to go to the bathroom. When I came back to bed I woke DH to let him know that something was happening. As I sat in bed I felt and rush of fluid and ran to the bathroom where my water broke all over the floor. I took a shower, we gathered our bags, and arrived at the hospital around 1 am. Because it was so late we had to go through the ER and walk around a good portion of the hospital to get to the elevators to go to L&D. In triage they confirmed that my water had broken and said I was 1.5 cm dilated. My contractions got really intense and I was shaking uncontrollably. I was having contractions for about two hours before I received my epidural (praise God for those!). By 8:30 am I was fully dilated and waiting for my doctor. She had some surgeries that morning so I had to wait for her. At 9:45ish we started pushing and at 10:42 am Kya Mae was born. She weighed 6lbs 1 oz and was 19.5 inches long. Because she was one day short of 37 weeks they were unsure about whether she would have to go to the NICU or not. Thankfully she didn't have to. We're home figuring things out and doing great! The biggest struggle so far is getting her to sleep more at night, but we're working on it!
