Audrey Jillian has arrived via induction turned c-section on 2/3/11 at 2:49 pm, weighing 6 lbs 6 oz and 18.5 inches long. She is amazing... I'm just in awe. Healthy, 9's on APGAR, breastfeeding well, and beautiful. She likes to hold my hand ![]()
Birth Story:
Went in for scheduled induction 2/2/11. Started with Cervadil for 12 hours. It hurt somewhat going in, but once in place, it was fine. That morning, it was taken out (that hurt b/c the string was wayyy up there) and my cervix was checked. At best 50% effaced and fingertip dilated. Started Pitocin and was having contractions 2-3 min apart of decent intensity. They hurt, but nothing I couldn't handle. They upped the dosage every 15 minutes, but oddly, the more I got, the weaker my contractions became. OB came in after about 2 hours on Pitocin and there was no progress... and she could not break my water. Went another 2 hours later and still no progress.
She knew that this baby just wasn't going to come out. My pelvis is too narrow and I didn't want to risk her getting stuck, so we agreed to a c-section.
I took a short nap while family and DH ate lunch and around 2 pm was rolled into OR. Got the spinal there which ALMOST sent me to a panic attack b/c not feeling my lower half freaked me out. DH was amazing and encouraging. C-section went perfectly, only made me a little nauseated which I was treated for. Saw my LO for a couple quick seconds then went to recovery for 2 hours while DH & LO got examined and tested. Then I got to go to postpartum room. We have been breastfeeding well, she is alert, and wonderful. She knows my voice and likes to grab my hand.
So far, I am shocked how great I feel considering my c-section was a mere few hours ago. I pray that I feel this good tomorrow!
Good luck to everyone & thanks for reading!

So happy your C-section went so smoothly. Mine is in 11 days and this is very encouraging. I love your LO's name but maybe I'm a little biased
You don't find many Audrey's in the world these days! GL to you and baby girl. The fact that she holds your hand already melts my heart!
