February 2011 Moms

Aaah, I can't see!

My vision has gotten a little worse with PG which is no biggie and pretty normal. However, I woke up today and I literally cannot read anything or concentrate on anything without it going fuzzy. I have reading glasses that help things within a couple feet from me but it makes distance wavy so I can't wear them all the time.

I am hoping my eyes are just dry today causing the problem because I don't even trust myself driving at this point! I can't imagine deal with this for over 2 more weeks, holy crap.

Anyone else dealing with this huge of a change at this point?

  • Yep, I'm super blind!  I havn't been driving much (unless I had to get somewhere) b/c I can't read any of the signs anymore.. I really hope my eyes go back to normal after LO is born!

    Ditto.

It should go back to normal since our vision is being affected by fluid retention, blood volume, hormones and all the wonderful bodily changes of PG. Hopefully it is a quick change back though!

  • Isn't that a sign of preeclampsia?

Yes. That thought already popped into my head since it was such a sudden change. I have no other symptoms but I am going to going to watch it and mention it to my OB if it continues like this.

I am thinking it may just be a combination of my eye sight change during PG in general plus dry eyes.

  • My vision ahs changed too, but what you are describing could be a sign of pre-e. Maybe call your ob to be sure.

  • I've had crazy eye changes this pregnancy but it was earlier on and gradual. The suddenness would worry me.

You should call your ob--that's the one thing they've been harping on me about is if there's a headache or blurred vision they need to know right away.
