Baby doesnt drain breast...do I pump?

Just wondering if I should pump after breastfeeding baby to drain breasts. I've been primarily pumping because the twins were in NICU, so I'm not sure if I have to continue to pump after feedings.

  • If you've pumped until your breasts were drained before they were taking to the breast then you should continue to do so. Otherwise your milk supply will go down. You can always store extras. :)
  • Thanks! I have a low supply as it is.

  • If they are strictly breastfeeding and nursing on demand then you shouldn't have to pump.  Your supply will adjust to only what they are drinking.  Now if you want to have a stash you can continue to pump after, but your breasts will keep making as much as is taken.
