How long are the Sesame Street/Elmo live shows?

We are taking DS this weekend and am wondering how long the shows last? I am guessing you are not allowed to bring in outside food or drink (for DS)?

What kind of overpriced trinkets are there to buy? Hopefully we'll be able to avoid those!

Re: How long are the Sesame Street/Elmo live shows?

  • We just went two weeks ago to Elmo's Healthy Heroes.  It was 1.5 hours but there was a 15 minute intermission.  We brought our own juice box and fruit snacks.  They did search bags at the entrance but more for weapons and video cameras, I think.  No one said anything to us about the snacks.  There are a ton of overpriced toys/shirts.  I think the cheapest thing was a $10 Elmo balloon.  Our 2 year-old said "WOW!" when they brought the balloons out during intermission, but didn't even ask to buy one.  We were luckily able to avoid all the souveniers!  The people behind us got two light-up toys- by the end of the show, one had dead batteries and the other was dropped and fell under the bleachers.  $30 down the drain...

  • Yep, everything the pp said.  The first segment of the show is longer than the second.  I'd say the first is about 45 minutes and the second is maybe a little less than 30.

All of the souveniers there are totally overpriced.  Some of it is cute too, but way overpriced.  We did bring a snack trap of teddy grahams and water for DS to snack on, that really wasn't an issue.  I will say though, that DS thoroughly enjoyed the entire show.  We don't even really watch sesame st at home, we just went with some friends, and he was totally fascinated the entire time.  And this is a kid who NEVER sits still.
