I got my Ovidrel injection today, and the nurse asked me which follicle I would like to release? They were both almost exactly the same so she said it didn't really matter. I'm confused. I thought that if I had more than one mature follie, then they both would be released. Does Ovidrel only cause one egg to release? When she asked me which one I wanted a chance at, I told her I was confused, but said the right because I didn't know what else to say. I already asked her about this and she had no clue.

TTC for over 3 years. After several infertility treatments, we received our first BFP!!
That does seem odd. I would think once the ovidrel was in your system it would do its thing one whatever follies were there. It's not like they inject it directly into your ovary...
Hope you get all your follies released! Good luck!

Bingo! I thought it was pretty funny too, I never thought I would be asked which egg I wanted to cook. I should have told her to do it right down the middle. Oy, maybe this is why I need to finally find an RE.
Thanks! I replied to your morning post. I hope your DH gets his keester back here pronto!
That's what I thought! Thanks for straightening that out for me.
STL . . .is there a difference in Novarel or Pregnyl not causing all follicles to be released? I know that Ovidrel is synthetic HcG and Pregnyl and Novarel are natural HCG, but in most cases, all follicles should be released, correct?
This is an older post but I thought it was funny. I think the nurse had to be kidding or playing guess your E2 level or beta number game. Hcg trigger is a systemic drug and should strongly encourage all mature follicles to rupture. The side the needle goes in has nothing to do with it.
Wishing you the best with both those follies!
Your post got bumped back to the top of my list, so I just saw your question. It shouldn't make a difference if Novarel or Pregnyl or used. The difference between Novarel or Pregnyl and Ovidrel (other than and actually because Ovidrel is synthetic) the amount of HCG contained in these differs. There are many people that have come up with conversions between Novarel/Pregnyl and Ovidrel, but you will find different numbers. Also, Ovidrel is pre-filled so you get the same dose unless you use multiple syringes. Where Novarel and Pregnyl are not pre-filled and syringes and can be prescribed in varying doses. The most common I have seen for inducing ovulation are 5,000 or 10,000 ius. But, they can be varied.
