If you use hypodermic needles, what do you do with the used ones? Do you just throw them in the trash? I don't know why, but that seems kind of.. I dunno... not right somehow.

My injects paperwork says that you are not allowed to throw them in the trash. I got a sharps container with my meds. So I would see if your pharmacy has them or walmart or I would call your dr to see about getting one. Then when full (or you are done) they have to be properly disposed of. My RE will take care of it for $10.

You can get a sharps container from the pharmacy. They will also take it when it's full.
Very good to know! I will check on that tomorrow.
The pharmacist who filled the Rx for me was extremely rude and made me want to run out of there as fast as I could. Big surprise he also failed to mention this little tidbit of info.

I got a sharps container with my first batch of fertility meds, but my paperwork from the RE says you can use an empty laundry detergent bottle. It say that if you are going to throw them away, they are supposed to be in something puncture proof (like a sharps container or a laundry detergent bottle) and you are supposed to duct tape it shut over the cap and write "do not recycle: syringes" on it.

Craft project? Paging Martha Stewart -- any uses for leftover hypodermics?
(Am totally kidding. I think the detergent bottle idea or a heavy-lidded coffee can (if they even make those any more) are the way to go).

I knew there was a reason I always seem to forget to recycle my old detergent bottles. I think I'll try this until I get a response from my pharmacy (which continues to be a giant PITA). Thanks for the idea!

BWWAAHAHAAHAHAAHAhahaahaha!!
I used to keep them in an old spaghetti sauce jar, but now I've got a fancy pants, legit sharps container.
DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY.
Take them back to your doc or pharmacy to have them properly disposed of. Or do something crafty with them.
