My dermatologist says that olive oil is the closest thing to skin's natural oils and has me use it when my excema flairs up. It would obviously have fewer chemicals in it than Vaseline, which is what most people recommend, so I don't see it doing any harm.
BTW I'm totally not opposed to olive oil on a baby's booty, I've heard good things about using olive oil. But is it sick and wrong that I got hungry for Italian food when I read this post?

yeah its good for your skin too! I use olive oil soaps and lotions too because I have eczema. It keeps the poop from sticking to the point you have to scrub them raw! This tar poop should be about done before you leave the hospital I think.
Hahaha, me too. Actually, I always do for some reason. My aunt got me some "cradle cap" oil for the baby, and I opened the package and said "What?!" And then was like "Oh, duh...cradle CAP!"
Re: Olive oil on baby's booty?
I think I'll try it. I might toss in a few cloves of garlic, fresh rosemary and some parmesan cheese too. Mmmmmm....
Why not "just spray some PAM in that general area? (You have to admit it's a valid idea)" Sorry, watched BabyMama too recently.
My lupus Birth Story
Totally read that as "cradle crap".
