WWYD (NBR)

As I mentioned in a previous post, I must have pulled/torn a muscle in my abdomen on Tuesday evening. When I called my OB about this, he just kept asking about LO, whom, as I assured him, is still very active and obviously just fine. Yesterday I took it easy so it didn't hurt that badly. Today I watched the office so that my boss could drive my school bus route for me (I can't turn that big wheel with a stomach injury). After having my other boss watch me try to waddle around the office (to go to the bathroom) and wince every time I stood, they forbade me to come back to work and begged me to go to the ER or see my OB. DH thinks that I have just pulled something and if I go in the only thing they can do for me is give me narcotics, which I don't want (I am however becoming resigned to the fact that if I don't heal soon I will probably not have the med-free birth I wanted).

So here is what I can't figure out, am I just being a big baby and should just suck it up like my doctor  and DH think, or should I go in to be physically checked out? I just feel dumb going in to see my doctor if he is going to decide, before I even get there, that there is nothing that can be done.

Please, if you really think I am just being a big baby tell me!

Re: WWYD (NBR)

  • I don't think you are being a baby, I would go in and be check out. Even if there is nothing they can do right now, you can get yourself prepared for any change in your delivery plans if needed.

  • I am usually a person to say suck it up if it's not that bad, but not in your case. When pregnant, it's always better to be safe than sorry. Even if it's nothing, you will be able to get that peace of mind.

  • I say go get it checked out. Just to be sure. Yeah LO is ok but you are not; which is obvious. And better safe then sorry especially when you're pregnant.

  • Pulled muscles HURT!  And especially when these are muscles that you're going to need to give birth, I'd say rest up as much as possible now and see what your doctor says.  I hope you're feeling much better when your baby decides to arrive.
