February 2011 Moms

AW: Happy EDD to me and still sitting here, lol.

Apparently my body is doing everything BUT contracting. Other than the sporadic BH. I've had a lot more bloody show just an hour ago and I can't stop thinking about the gaping 5cm (that was Monday so who knows, maybe I am at 6 now?!) inside my body.

However, I am glad I didn't go into labor last night because we got hit by the kind of cold front that South Texans simply aren't equipped to deal with. We were without power for 6 hours this morning and 24F outside. I know that's NOTHING compared to most of you but as I said, when that happens, life stands still here. I don't even own a winter coat. Oh and we're supposed to get sleet and possibly even snow tomorrow! Kind of makes me wish that this LO will stay put until Monday, when temperatures are supposed to go back up to 70. :)

  • Okay, I would never encourage any woman to stay pregnancy longer than 40 weeks, but given your situation, I would be hoping the same thing.  We haven't got hit with the snow that I know others have either, but our high yesterday was negative 1 without the windchill factor (-35 with that).  So I understand the freak cold throwing a wrench in the works.  I hope he stays put if only till it slightly warms and the snow/sleet factor has passed.

  • Diva-We're in Southeast Texas and I know how you feel!  Now I'm worried about finding LO (and myself) some warmer clothes for our trip to the hospital, but it's so cold I don't want to leave the house.  I never had the need for a winter coat either, but it was 19 this morning!!!  I think this is only the second time this winter we've turned the heat on.

  • Personally I would be hoping to go into labor... Spend the two coldest days in the hospital and come home when it warms up :)  At least the hospital has back up generators and stuff.
  • I'm used to the cold and snow obviously cause I'm from Michigan but if I were in your shoes I would still want LO to wait till the weather got better even if it meant going over a bit. So, I can't blame you on that. Hopefully, your LO will wait till Monday for you. Good luck.

  • yeah..south LA here and i'm hoping LO waits til her scheduled induction Monday. Most of the schools are closed and some of the bridges are on and off closing and i really dont feel like going into labor and not being able to get to the hospital b/c they closed the bridge i need to get there.
