NBR: Granite Countertops
Anyone have Granite countertops? What do you love? What do you hate?
Any colors to avoid? I would love black but I always hear horror stories about water spots.

I do. I love mine. I have black speckled in my living room shelving unit thing (hard to explain) and in our bonus room bar. They are great except you can see any kind of mark on them even when they are clean you can see the swipe mark from wiping them down.
In my kitchen and my guest bathroom with have multi-colored (is how I guess you would describe it) its ivory and black. Now those I LOVE you can't see anything on them and they always look clean even if they aren't! Best part about having it in the kitchen is you dont' have to worry about putting hot pots and pans on it, you can't hurt it!
It my bathroom we have an ivory that sort of has a pink hue to it, its fine. I don't love it or hate it.
We didn't pick out the granite, it was in the house when we bought it, but if and when we build a house, I'd do granite again.
We built our house and picked out our granite to go in. We chose a mostly black granite with a few colors---it is called Ubatuba and I really love the color. But as you said and LLG mentioned, you can see EVERY water spot, crumb, smear, etc. It makes keeping them clean a total PITA. My DH is obsessed with keeping them clean. It's like his one pet peeve. Which sucks for me considering I'm in the kitchen ALL the time! haha. We use THIS granite cleaner and it works great, but it takes a lot of work to keep them looking clean and smudge/water spot free.
They do look nice though, and I really like the color we have. I just wish they were easier to keep looking nice!
