s/o Maternity Clothes

Where did/do you get yours beside Destination/Motherhood/Pea in the Pod, Old Navy, and Gap? I'm (hopefully) going to need some soon and have been looking online and there is SO little that I would wear, especially for work. It seems all the tops that aren't t-shirts are poofy blouse/button down type things of which I am not a fan. Any other places to look? I saw some stuff at Nordstrom but would rather not spend $70 on a shirt that I can wear for maybe 4 months tops.

Thanks!

Re: s/o Maternity Clothes

  • JCPenney is great for work stuff.  Not all of their stores have maternity stuff though, but it is definitely work appropriate, reasonably priced and decently made (for clothes you'll only wear a few months)

    ETA: lots online there :)

  • I didn't work last time (not that there's a this time) but I agree with epphd, JCP has pretty nice stuff.  I also found it realistically sized.

  • Ann Taylor Loft has some nice looking mat clothes, but they are way too spendy, IMO.  I'd sooner go to Motherhood and pay full price.  Oh, I've found some good maternity sweaters at Target, but it can be hit or miss. Also, try Kohls - again, you have to dig in person to find stuff.

ETA: now that I've looked a bit online, I remember the frustration I had last time - all the maternity clothes are freaking lounge clothes.  I remember asking at a store - what, do women quit their jobs when they get pregnant?  The clerk directed me to Pea in the Pod and damn near fell over when I saw the prices.  SO aggravating.

  • DId you see Boden now has maternity? $$$, I know!

I got most of mine at the places you listed- I was super causal while pregnant ( I could get away with that and was so damn sick I did not care if I couldn't!)

  • I got most of mine at the gap, old navy, and target. Gap had/has great sales all the time so I got some really nice stuff for work and play for a good price.
  • For work I do a lot of slacks (Maternal America from Nordstroms, Pickles and Ice Cream (dont remember the brand) and Pea in a Pod) - paired with a non mat jacket or cardigan worn open.  The shirt underneath is ofen casual, but I cover it up with necklaces or, this time of year, a scarf.  I don't mind spending a lot on pants - I only buy a few pairs, usually black, so I get a ton of wear out of them!  (Bonus:  "Nicer" brands are often longer and so can be worn with heels for work.) This time I've also been surprised to find 2 dresses at Target.  GL!

  • Destination Maternity has racks at some Macy's too, and you can use Macy's coupons.

I agree with E.  Also try Kohl's.  They had some good options for work and they were usually on sale.

  • I also really liked JCP for work stuff. H&M also has maternity (at least they do in their stores in the UK, not sure about online here in the US). Also, my other fav UK store just started online in the US    www.nextdirect.com    They have some stuff but they are also a bit $$$ but the sales are good
