Immature eggs?

Anyone ever been told they have immature eggs?

Re: Immature eggs?

  • Yes, when I had my ET, they got 16 eggs, 8 were immature and the others weren't great. I;m glad you posted this. I would like more info on why that happened!

  • Well, mine are immature - as in, without treatment.  I start injections next cycle to see if they can mature my eggs.  I only am pregnant for 5 weeks before I m/c due to immature eggs.

This confuses me. Immature eggs don't fertilize at all, so if you're getting as far as mc (I'm sorry about that) immature eggs seems to be an unexpected dx. GL.

  • Thanks!

Now that I reread what I wrote, that doesn't make sense.  That is what the DR is telling me though.  He took pictures of my eggs during a surgical procedure and said they were smooth, therefore immature.  My other doctor referred to them as "bad eggs".

So now I'm wondering what is really going on...

  • Just read something online that said that when an immature egg and sperm divide unevenly (because the egg is immature) it can result in m/c when it is mature...

So I'm thinking my issue is that my eggs are immature at the time they split?  Still way confusing...

  • Being to understand...

Basically I think what is happening is that my embryos aren't developing correctly because the eggs are "of poor quality" and are immature.

  • It's impossible to make presumptions like this about egg quality or maturity w/o doing IVF and actually seeing the eggs NOT on an u/s (where you can only see the follicles).  Are you working w/ an RE and have you done a stim cycle?

  • Working with a RE but no "stim cycle" yet...he is having me do injections next cycle.  Who knows...I guess I'll just go with it and ask more questions when we go in.
  • I wouldn't work yourself up over immature eggs/bad egg quality at this point - your RE really does not know until you do IVF.

  • Who knows...I guess he thinks the injections will work (whatever my problem is).  All I know is that I'm able to get pregnant (The only two months I've tried I got pregnant), but can't stay pregnant long.  We'll see how it goes.  Thanks for your input.
