Those w/ Stripped Membranes

How far along were you when/if you got your membranes stripped? I had an appointment this morning and my doc was stripping my membranes before I realized it! She said I won't go into labor unless my body was already preparing to do so. I was surprised b/c it seems to me that everyone here has been closer to 40 weeks than I am. Also, did it work w/n 24-48 hours? TIA!

I'm laughing to myself right now because DH and I were assigned to give a short "report" on artificially stripped membranes to our labor and birth education class tomorrow night.

My Dr. said they would offer it starting at 37 weeks, but I am quite surprised your Dr. didn't ask and/or talk to you about it prior to doing the proceedure. This should have been your call, and not something that was automatically done.

I had my membranes stripped every week starting at 37 weeks with dd#1. It didn't do a thing for me, i ended up being induced at 41 weeks. Good luck to you though.
