When we went to the PT for evaluation they noticed some issues with Mason's hips/legs. I'm not too concerned about this, but wondering what to expect at our appointment. They mentioned that they will probably do an ultrasound and possible hip dysplasia. Has anyone gone through this?
Apparently he has more fat folds on one inner thigh than the other, that's what caused concern.
Re: Has anyone had to see an orthopedic doc for LO?
Addslove will be able to add some great info because her daughter had hip displasia. I had it when I was born and there was some concern with DD for one of her visits. We had xrays done and all was good.
i know it is hard not to worry but try
Sending you warm thoughts.
We have an appointment with ortho in March for DS' limb asymmetry (his right arm and right leg are shorter and smaller than the left side--this is related to his genetic condition). I know that our geneticist noticed the limb asymmetry b/c of the fat folds in his legs-- one side has deeper folds and a 1 extra fold than the other side which caused him to measure both and his right leg is 1.5cm shorter than the left.
When is your appointment w/ ortho?
addslove ygm
Our appt is Monday at Mercy Healthplex in Anderson. M also has 1 extra fold, what is the treatment for this?
YGM back!!
I am sure addslove has you covered but I would also consider switching to Childrens.
At our first appointment it was just an exam with a lot of pushing/pulling and maneuvering of the legs. Then the doc decided to order an u/s of DD's hips. DS's appointment went the same way. Then we got a phone call to come in and get fitted with a pavlik harness and we got u/s every 2 weeks to see if it is working. They can only use this prior to 6 months. It worked for DD then, so there was no need to move to surgery. There are many different surgical procedures that can be done to correct it depending on the issue since the hips have so many components.
addslove is the one who is currently being stronger. I did it for her now she is doing it for me. DDH sucks ballz!
