I didn't have a shower for DS. Our families tend not to have showers. I did have a small registry and the Christmas before DS was born, a lot of people gave us baby stuff as gifts.
My co-workers had a small luncheon for me at school and did a group gift. DH's co-workers had cake for him and gave us a gift card.
We obviously won't have a shower for this one either. Most likely, both of us will have a little something at work(just cake...nothing big)
Re: any one else not having a shower?
I'm not sure. My mom has mentioned it, but I don't know if I want to. I don't know where to have it or who to invite. My mom is estranged from most of her family, and my dad's side of the family is not close either. DH's family is scattered all over the country, as are most of my best friends.
I ran into the same issue with my bridal shower. That time, my mom flew to where I was living and hosted the shower at my apartment. My bridesmaids and MIL flew in, and we had some in town friends too. It was great, but that isn't going to happen again for the baby shower. I live a lot closer to my mom now, so she wouldn't have to fly, but I don't really like the idea of her hosting it at our apartment - seems too much like me throwing a shower for myself. Also, I just don't feel like I have that many friends in the immediate area to invite. Inviting friends who I am not super close to feels like just asking for gifts, which I feel uncomfortable about.
DH has a lot more close friends in the area, and I am definitely friends with them and their wives too. I would like to do a Jack and Jill type shower, and I feel like then there would be enough people, but DH isn't so into the idea.
