My Gymboree (Play&Music) went bankrupt!

Totally out of the blue! We went Friday to go to the Halloween party, which was still being promoted when I was there Wednesday, and discovered the doors were locked and there was a legal notice on the door. It is Chapter 7 and apparently they owe a lot of money (more than $1 million) so it doesn't appear they will reopen.This is the case for all the Gymborees (not the stores) in our area. As much as I've complained about the hokiness of the classes, I am disappointed. It was something we could do together and it occupied two hours of afternoon time each week, which is important since I like to stay busy. We're also out some money for the classes we prepaid for, but not as much as the people who just signed up or re-upped for more sessions. I feel badly for the women who taught our classes. They were really sweet and I don't think they had any idea this was coming. I hate that they are out of a job.

    Oh no! That's crappy. Those classes kinda grow on you, don't they? lol

    How about local libraries? Do they offer any fun mommy and me's?

    Yeah, I've found some library activities that we will check out this week. I think they are just storytimes, though. We'll see how that goes - hopefully better than when DH and I read to her before bed. At least with this she probably won't be able to eat the book like she does at home! I was looking at Little Gym but she won't be old enough for the classes for another five months.

    A mommy friend swears by meetup.com for mom's groups. Never tried it myself though.
