Anyone sweating in sleep?

I'm not a frequent poster here, I'm mostly on the Philly Nest, but I have a question.

My baby is 4 weeks old and I sweat like crazy at night. I wake up in a pool of sweat. Of course, I think it's sweat but I EBF and there's a chance I'm leaking at night.

Does anyone else have this issue? I thought it might be my hormones at night but I'm not sure.

  • Me! Like I'm running a marathon in Thailand. It's ridiculous. Plus I never sweat like this before. It kinda grosses me out, lol Embarrassed

  • I was sweating at night also the first few weeks. I think it's the hormones. Are you wet just by your boobs, or is it all over? I was leaking at the time too, but I could tell the difference between the two.

This for me too. Thankfully, it has stopped but it was nasty. I read somewhere that it is because of the hormones.

I think I'm sweating AND leaking. I'm a hot wet mess! It's hard to tell b/c I wake up and my upper chest is really wet so I'm not sure what's going on. Good to know I'm not alone in this, but it's gross!

  • For me, I know its sweat because I'm wet from the neck down (even my legs). If you think you might be leaking, have you tried wearing a breast pad to bed?

  • No sweating but definitely having night time leaking going on. It has lessened a bit in he last couple weeks though. I wear the breast pads to bed although sometimes they move away and hello puddle!

  • i def wake up soaked at night.  I have been able to tie it to the time when DS normally wakes up to eat (if he's late that night) and my breasts are full.  I wake up soaked head to toe.  I also have hot flashed a sweat bad when DS has a full out crying screaming fit.  Never fails that it happens in the car when I can't pull over for him and I end up driving wishing I could put the window down, my face is bright red and I'm trying to strip my clothes off! I thought that is might just be my nerves, but the OB said that it's hormones (the same ones that make your mile come down when LO cries) and that it's normal...

  • YES!

Not to mention I had a fever a few weeks ago, so I was going from the sweats to chills, so it was even worse. Glad I'm not alone!

  • Yes, I am still getting night sweats. It has happened with each of my children and it usually lasts about 2 months until the hormones are regulated.

  • Yep, me too.  OB says BF causes a mini-menopause.  Lovely.
