what travel potty do you have?

Not that you had to research this issue, but have you seen any that have a splash attachment?    I want a folding one to keep in the diaper bag because we have great success at home (exclusively use training pants rather than diapers except overnight) and now I want to start offering potty opportunities when we are out and about (like shopping or eating out).

Re: ::jaime::

  • I didn't research travel potties too much so I can't say that i've seen one with a splash attachment.  we really like the cushie tushie regular potty seat that we have, so I knew I'd probably like the travel version they make.  this is the one we have.

    it's not super compact but i like that it isn't just hard plastic like some of them are.  she's used it in airports, at restaurants, at the grandparents, etc and seems to like it ok.  you just have to be careful and make sure you push it al the way towards the front of the seat for the larger openings, otherwise the supports will give and they'll fall in the toilet ;)

    we're doing great w/the poops - she started telling me last week when she needs to poop and we haven't had any poopy diapers since then....but i don't know how to get her to hold her pee or tell me when she needs to pee.... (though sometimes she says "poo poo" and all she does is pee, or nothing, so i also wonder if it's her way of saying i need to potty or i have a wet diaper) did it just happen for you with Jack or do you have any tips? :) i'd love to be able to switch to training pants but there's no way we could do that right now!

  • I wish they made one that was flat and didn't fold (because it seems like that generates to most bad reviews).  I just need something that helps him sit so that I don't have to hold him - when we do that he gets red marks on his back/underarms from my fingers and he squirms more.

    I'm not sure if Jack really holds his pee (because he goes in a diaper no problem with every diaper change when he's wearing them - even if I change him in less than 2 hour intervals).  I think when we are home I just offer the potty more often (especially when he's in training pants) so we don't miss his intervals.  BUT just recently I have noticed he starts to clutch himself (I wonder if that is a boy trait?), stops moving, and also gets quiet so I make it a point to ask if he needs to potty, don't give him time to answer and cart him in there and 90% of the time he goes right away.  I think he has started to grasp that he can hold it until situated on the potty because as soon as he's comfy he goes.

    Most recently he starts to tug his training pants like he's going to just take them off and that usually means he went already and wants the wet pants off!  I saw Hanna Andersson trainers at the outlet for $3/each and bought about 8 of them so we have plenty to rotate through and they are really thick, they definitely hold one pee without even soaking through so a miss here and there is ok.

  • ah, ok.  yeah we had a good streak where we had a lot of dry diapers and i'll only have 1-2 wet diapers/day (not incl. the morning/overnight one) but lately a lot of them are wet and i think it's b/c i'm not offering her enough pottytunities

    i've heard great things about those HA unders lately on the baby bargains board :) lucky that you are near an outlet. i need to see if there is one near me...though i've heard if you aren't near one you can call one up and they'll ship whatever you want that they have at the store (they'll charge shipping but it still ends up cheaper than the regular HA store).

    you're lucky that he is starting to give signs of peeing....i'll have to watch closely and see if she gets quiet or anything like that, maybe that will help us w/the wet diapers...

  • Maybe you will spot some signs.  Last night I could tell J was going to go because he toddled off while we were skyping with the ILs and got really quiet and faced away.  I told DH he was peeing and he didn't believe me because he didn't really notice a change.  I didn't run him to the potty and sure enough his trainers were wet when he walked back over to us.

    Miss A is so petite that the Hanna trainers might not fit  :( I wish they made them smaller because they are so soft and thick, although I don't really have others to compare.  J has XS ones and they are a little big.  I just put them on with baby legs and I can sometimes see gaps in the legs, but they fit well in other areas.  So far no accidents out the sides but I wouldn't trust them for use outside or under clothes where they might get bunched up.  He wears a size 80 in long john PJs and a 70 in the clothes, but will be moving up soon (I bought some of the spring stuff in 80's).
