cysts and clomid

Hi all,

So I have been lurking on and off for about a year.  My husband and I have been trying for a little over a year now.  We both have been through all the tests, and my ob/gyn says everything looks good.  She says the next step would be to start clomid, but that she has concerns because I get cysts all the time.  She said she would do it, but would rather me be monitored by a fertility specialist.

So here is the problem.  My next cycle is coming up in a week, and I can start the clomid then, or wait until the next available appt with the fertility dr, which is not until April.  I'm kinda tossed.  Part of me wants to start this coming month and if nothing happens (which I know is unlikely), I'll still have an appt with the fertility dr. I guess I just need advice from those of you who have used clomid and if you had cysts.  Just a little overwhelmed.

Thanks!

I have similar problems. My doctor has me come in for more ultrasounds and is always watching the size of my cysts. Last month mine was 7 cm and we did not use clomid. The up side is that I ovulated on my own. We still had a BFN last month and we started back on Clomid today. I went in last week and the cyst was down to 3 cm. My doctor debated on the Clomid, but since it went down he gave me a low dose of Clomid and wants to see me back. So far everything is going well. Good Luck, I hope it works out for you.

I know it sucks to wait until April, but I would wait and see a specialist, especially if that's what dr. recommends. I had an experience with a cyst that grew to 10cm with Clomid and needed a lap to remove it. If you end up with cysts, you'll have to take break cycles anyway- GL!

After 2 1/2 years TTC, 3 IUI's, endo, and a lap, a surprise BFP brought us Alexandra Marie!

I have been seeing an OBGYN but their office specializes in infertility. I started to take the Clomid two months ago and I wasn't monitored b/c my doc told me it was only 50 mg and that he doubted I would have any problems. So, I moved to the 100 mg last month and when I went in for my CD 11 u/s I had numerous cysts all over my ovaries. Needless to say, I should have figured that this would happen considering my mom had this exact same thing happen to her except she can't remember what fertility drug she was on. Either way, I would wait to be monitored but that's just my opinion.
