We absolutely LOVE our Chicco, and just comparing it to some friends and relative who have the Snugride, I would prefer our Chicco any day. No particular reason, just all around seems like a better and more user friendly seat! Plus it's got great ratings!
They're very similar. You should go to a store and fiddle around with both of them and try each one in your car.
FWIW, we compared both for over an hour in-store and went with the SR35. I liked the ease of use and colors better on the KF30, but the SR was cheaper (we also needed an extra base), had nicer fabric, snapped into the Graco snap-n-go frame, and allows for an extra two inches in height (pay no attention to the weight limits - kids will outgrow it in height before weight).
I was in the same position as you. And chose the Chicco Keyfit. I recommend that you play with both seats (and potential strollers) in store to decide. Play with the bases, buckles, etc. Here's the reasons why we chose Chicco:
1) The fabric seemed much easier to clean compared to the Graco. Graco makes this plushy like fabric and I feel like it'd soak up all spit ups.
2) Buckle system seemed more user friendly. It seemed easy to unlock/lock the baby into the belts.
3) Removing/Putting the seat into the base was way easier.
4) Plastic seemed less "cheap" appearing/feel to it.
5) I liked the handle feel a bit better (though my husband didn't notice difference)
Drawbacks of Chicco? Price. The bases are also much more expensive than the Graco. The color selection is pretty limited - but I think ALL car seats by Graco are ugly as well.
They both got A per the Baby Bargains book. A few friends have Chicco but we have 2 family members who loved their Graco snugride so we plan to go w/ that based on what they shared plus they are a little cheaper...
