Can anyone rec a good n/a beer?

I've been craving the taste of a beer, but I know non-alcoholic beers usually have a reputation for being blah. Has anyone found a good one? I usually love a good dark beer. Things that taste like coors/bud are not my cup of tea.

  • I've only had O'Doul's regular and O'Doul's Amber. both are pretty decent, it gives you that beer taste to get past the craving a little bit. But there is still nothing like a regular beer.

  • I asked my doc about this when I was pregnant with DD and she said that she did not even recommend drinking those. She said that there is still a little alcohol in them (not much at all) and no amount of alcohol is ok to drink during pregnancy.

It was just her opinion, but I trust her.

  • my friend introduced me to Warsteiner N/A beer. I wasn't a big beer drinker before but it tasted good to me.  Something about that ice cold beer taste was very enticing too.

Your OB is very conservative then.  Not saying I am going to go out and drink.  I wasn't really a drinker before I got pregnant.  But my OBs have said a glass of wine here and there during 2nd and 3rd tri is okay.

She is not that conservative, just cautious. I love wine, but I will not drink at all until after the baby is born. I just don't understand why someone would want to drink alcohol while pregnant, even if it is just a little. But, that is just me.

  • I've only ever had O'Douls as well, so I'm no help, but I look forward to hearing other's suggestions. Would really love a nice cold beer to enjoy for the Super Bowl.

  • Beck's N/A is pretty damn good. I drink it when we watch football. I can not find it in myself to separate football and beer. For a damn good reason :)

Agree, that is REALLY conservative.  Be definition, N/A beer has to have less than 1/2 of 1% alcohol.  You will definitely find more than this in some foods (like fresh-squeezed oj for example or fermented foods like some breads).  And you'd have to drink a keg of it for you to even feel anything.  I will definitely be having coq au vin for dinner on Valentine's Day (we're going to my fav french place), and while almost all of the alcohol is cooked out of the wine, not all of it will be, but enough that I won't be hurting my baby.

    I would love a N/A blue moon.

  • Thanks for the suggestions, now I have somewhere to start! Certain foods just feel naked without a good drink paired with them. It still feels odd not having red wine with Italian!

Well, everyone has their opinions and thoughts. I will not be drinking anything until after this baby is born. I can hold out for 25 more weeks. :)

I first had Erdinger at the Yard House (restaurant with a ton of beers on tap - and a bunch more in the bottle). As for a store, I found it at BevMo.
