How often do you still burp LO??

DH and I don't really burp DS much anymore.

He's much more active now and we find that just his own body movements and such are way more effective in getting the gas out than we ever were. So, during the day, we more or less let him burp himself.

I will burp him after his last bottle before bed, just so make sure he's comfortable with no gas bubbles when he gets put down.

I was telling this to our sleep consultant (who is apparently also an infant gas consultant) who was shocked that we no longer burp him at 5 months.

Am I alone here? Or officially the world's worst mother because I don't often burp my baby?

I still burp him after every feeding. He gets upset/spits up a lot if I don't.

After every time I nurse him, I just sit him up and pat his back and he burps.  We burped Ethan probably till after his first birthday.

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.

You're not alone.  I haven't burped DS in a long time.  I wouldn't worry about it if you feel he doesn't need it.  :)

We burp after each bottle. We used to burp halfway through the bottle, and at the end, however she just freaks out halfway now if we try, so we just wait.

Hmmm....now I wonder if I should be more frequently.

We just find during the day, he gets impatient sitting there while we burp him, and usually within a minute or 2 of finishing his bottle, he lets one rip...and never really seems uncomfortable.

I guess every baby is different.

Any and all movement results in massive barfings so I don't bother, just let him lie down for 5 or 10 after he eats. He usually burps by himself in that time anyway.

Yep, this is what we do too.  If we try to burp her in the middle of the bottle, she won't finish it because she's so pissed off.

I always try, but only for a minute or so. About half the time he won't burp until a while later on his own.

DH still burps him half way through, but thats only because he is terrified of DS spitting up. I normally burp him at the end of the feeding, and he does just fine.

she burps herself for the most part now if I just sit her up and play with her for a few minutes after she eats. If she doesn't though, or at night if she falls back asleep, I will sit her up and burp her just to make sure.
