4 or 6 weeks?

I was just curious as to everyone's ideas on sex after baby. The nurse at the hospital said nothing for 6 weeks but the information my doctor gave me from his office said 4 weeks. Anyone have any experience with this?

The general "rule" is 6 weeks but some doctors do clear it before 6 weeks.

My Midwife said 6. Don't think I could have attempted it before that. It was VERY slow going even then.

Our dr said 6, we waited almost 8..and i was scared. even after the dr cleared me and said it was ok.

Let me just say that I had my 6wk PP appointment today and that hurt like hell. I could NOT imagine having sex even now, I don't know how anyone has sex before six weeks let alone at six weeks. Things just aren't right in there.

After DS and a 2nd degree tear, the doctors and the discharge instructions said to wait 3 weeks. When I asked my doc, she told me that she would recommend 6 weeks because mentally most women just aren't ready, but that medically 3-4 weeks was all I had to wait.

DH and I had sex at 7 weeks last time, and 6 weeks this time (no tear!). Just take it slow and use lots of lube. It hurts much less then a pap and a lot less then getting an IUD. (or birthing a baby for that matter.)

Just give it a try!
