WHOO HOO NO SCHOOL!

I am so excited, school is canceled tomorrow! It is too cold for school here (mind you it was 70 on Saturday). Granted I still took my kids on a public transit adventure today. Yeah, I can spend another day working on baby stuff and vegging out. Okay, happy dance is done.

  • LUCKY! Staff always have to report when our school closes regardless of how bad it is outside. Sad

Unless of course the power goes out... ::fingers crossed:: Stick out tongue

  • I'm waiting for the call from my district.  We have lots of ice here now and it's supposed to get worse tonight!  They already cancelled all activities tonight and let the staff go early after school today (we have to stay 40 minutes after the kids are dismissed).  Crossing my fingers for a snow day, this is the only year I don't care how many days we get off cause I won't be making them up!

  • wohooo, getting the call the night before is the best!

We are supposed to get a wintry mix here for tomorrow and then possibly more snow on Wed. night. I would love another snow day here too.

    enjoy!

  • Waiting for the call too!  We already have lots of ice and they are calling for up to 20 inches of snow.  They are saying this is going to be the worst snow storm STL has seen since 1982.  Since I was born in 83' it will be the worst in my lifetime.  We'll see.  I did my grocery shopping and have books and movies ready.  I can't wait!!!!

  • I am patiently waiting for a call as well! It's been raining/freezing here for almost an hour, and it's predicted to last until Thursday! Yikes!

  • I love snow days this year!!  We have had 4 this month alone and I am anticipating one if not two this week.  (we have potential for another 2 ft storm this week).  The best part, when the students and rest of staff are making up the days in June, I will be on maternity leave!!

Seriously?!  It's too dangerous for parents to be driving kids to school, but the staff can risk it?  That sucks!

Yup! It is so ridiculous. Even if there are driving bans we have to report, or use PTO. I just don't understand why we are forced to risk getting into an accident or getting a ticket for driving during a ban, especially if there are no students to teach anyway. Can you talk some sense into them (the almighty administrators) for me? Stick out tongue

  • Mine hasn't cancled either!! I am wishing and hoping!!!!! But just incase they don't I have my black sweatpants ready to wear with a red maternity turtleneck!! They can make me work, but they can't make me wear real clothes!!

Have fun tomorrow!! Enjoy your day off!!

  • AshBow, I am from Buffalo, what district is that? I have NEVER heard of such a thing. I would fight that. According my mom Wednesday looks like a good chance for a snow day, I would say I couldn't get down my street!

I teach for a private organization that provides services for students with disabilities from Buffalo and the surrounding districts (West Seneca, OP, Tonawanda, etc). So our school and all of the districts get closed but staff still have to report. It has actually become a union issue because so many people aren't able to get to work and they are forced to use their PTO or people are forced to risk driving to work.

  • So jealous! We had off Thursday and Friday due to the big storm that hit the East coast. I am now hoping that they call tomorrow, or at least a delay due to the snow/freezing rain that is in the forecast for tomorrow.

    Cross your fingers for me!

  • We just got the call, no school!  Of course our Gov. declared our state a disaster area earlier tonight, so that may have something to do with it!

  • I'm near Pittsburgh and just got our 2-hr delay call! The staff has to report an hour after their regularly scheduled time, but I can deal with that (an extra hour to sleep in!)! If it turns into a cancellation, we have to make it up over Easter break. I'm keeping my fingers crossed just for the delay and nothing more!

  • Beyond jealous! I think it totally skipped us!  I was so hoping for a snow day too! UGH
