Awake versus sleeping first few weeks

My daughter was born Wednesday and I am EBF. It seems like she is not awake at all other than to breastfeed. I was just wondering what is normal in terms of sleeping versus being awake the first couple weeks?

Completely normal. That's pretty much all they do the first few weeks. Eat, sleep and poop. :)

Most newborns sleep about 18 hours a day.

Awake time between naps for a newborn is only about 45-60 minutes (and only goes to 90 minutes between naps at 3 months). BUT this includes feeding, and diapering, and the time to fall asleep again. So, for us, when DS was a newborn he took 45 minutes to eat so it was literally eat sleep eat sleep eat sleep, etc.

Now, he's awake for about 10-15 minutes after his bottle before we put him down for another nap. He still sleeps a lot, as babies need to do.
