January 2011 Moms

Never really posted on this board but would love to *meet* everyone

since our babies are about the same and I feel like I always have questions

My LO was born via c-section at 38 weeks on 1/7 due to pre-e..  She lost more than 10% of her weight in the hospital but back on track and eating so well.  Sleep is hard b/c doesn't know the difference between night and day.  I am going to try to find some books to find out when this will happen and how I can assist the process (without rushing her littleness)

I am feeling okay with the c-section but dealing with HBP now and was just put on meds.

I have to go back to work March 4th and already dreading the day.

Anyway, I hope we can be a support system for our LOs as they grow :)

  • welcome to the board!  i don't have an outside baby yet, but hope to be able to relate to the other mommies on the board soon :o)  glad to hear that you LO is doing well!

  • Welcome to the board, My lo also was born via c-section due to not alot of movement and low scores on her biophysical profile, and lost 7oz. after birth but quickly gained that back plus alot more and is now over 10lbs. they grow so fast.

  • One thing I can advice is that although books and internet can give us an idea of what to expect, dont be discouraged if you baby doesnt get the hang of night and day anytime soon, some babies sleep through the night when they are 2 months old, some still dont even when they are close to being one! (I say this from experience with my little nieces and nephews)

I was worried too because I felt my LO was not gaining her weight back due to my lack of breastmilk production had to supplement but she is back on track now and probably over 9lbs! her birth weight has 8.5 (big baby is you ask me especially since she came 10 days earlier)

Hope you feel better! and just post here whenever you feel overwhelmed, it always helps me to hear others advice and situations :)

  • Congratulations!  I hope the meds help with your HBP.

  • Hi Welcome! I thought the same about LO's nights and days - and things have gotten much better. I didn't do anything specific, it just worked itself out.

I too worried about his weight - lost 6 oz. by the time we left the hospital but like PP said he's put that back and then some - is now over 10 pounds (10 lbs 2 oz yesterday) and only 3 weeks old (born at 8 lbs 7 oz). I'm so relieved to know that I am giving him enough BM when I nurse!

I also had a c-section too and felt recover was the worst thing EVER - but again, that too is much better.

Look forward to chatting with you!

  • I too am new to this, but hope to find support as well! My baby girl was born 8 days past her due date via c-sec due to complications with slow dialating with high fever. She was sent to NICU with hypoglycemia and hypothermia shortly after birth. Things are much better now at 2 wks.

Again, just wanted to say hello and "meet" other Jan. moms as well!

( I don't really even know how to add all those cute pics & tickers yet!)
