Hi. It seems so strange to me to be paging you over here, but since it is BR I'm trying to respect the TN girls
I saw below that you are going back to work after 4 weeks. And I'd like to know more...is this b/c its your company policy? How did you come to his decision??
Im asking becasue I just found out my company maternity leave policy is 4 weeks (unpaid), there are 10 of us and so there's no FMLA, and my bosses have determined that the company cannot afford for me to be gone longer than 4 weeks. I've basically been in tears every time I think about leaving a 4 week old baby and returning to my office. So.. any moral support of hope you can give me would be appreciated.
Feel free to PM if you'd rather! TIA!
Re: Tarah716 (re:maternity leave)
We don't have a company policy for maternity leave - it's a 99% male dictated workplace and we too do not fall under the FMLA for family leave. Our maternity leave is 100% unpaid - no matter how long it is.
I was originally going to take six weeks off, use my two weeks of vacation to get at least two weeks of paid leave and then come back. But I realized there was no way we were going to be able to survive a month without my paycheck - we would be so far behind on bills and so tight. Since Jason just got a new job it'll help out but we still need my paycheck to help us get back up to speed quicker.
I'm very sad about having to come back after 4 weeks, my MIL is going to have to watch the baby for two weeks because the daycare center we're using won't take the baby until they're 6 weeks old. But I have to do what I have to do and I know that the baby will be well taken care of and loved at each spot.
It'll work out - it might be really hard at first but it'll be OK, I have to trust that. I'm sure once I figure out a new schedule it won't bother me as much.
