vent: LO horrible sleep/night (long)

LO is a great baby who fusses/cries "appropriately" but doesn't scream. Quiet during burp, bath, diaper, rocking/swaddle.  He's naturally been on eat, awake, sleep since almost day 1.

Issue 1) LO has been having trouble sleeping in his pnp during the day consistently.  Sometimes he naps for 1 hr before fussing/wanting to sleep while being held.  Other times, he'll fall asleep while cuddling & awake within a few min of being put down.  Tried rocking & putting back down but he'll fuss--> cry --> awake/agitated.

We're probably doing some things wong (like me holding him sleeping right now).  However, I bragged at how awesome he was during the night (not sttn yet but close).  He would fuss every 4hrs-ish, feed, burp, diaper, swaddle, rock/pat for 1 min then be put down awake in his pnp... all without crying or even fussing.  It was a quiet, great routine of 12am, 4am feedings.

Issue 2) Last night was hell.  We did the same routine/cues at 8pm, but he woke up screaming (not crying) after an hour.  weird. Nothing worked so I nursed which calmed him immediately.  He's asleep for 30 min.  Repeat cycle EVERY single hour (so sometimes sleeping 10min) with him crying --> scream during burp/wet diaper/etc.  We were at a loss- he's fed (spit up some so tummy full), dry, clean, gripe-watered, swaddled, no tangled hairs.  He kept farting but wouldnt poop- books say bf babies may go days w/o pooping but that is not constipation.  ?  My boobs couldn't keep up, & it was painful as he sucked harder.  Wouldnt take bm bottle (normally no prob with bottle).

I broke at 4am and brought him into bed.  We slept (well, he as I was paranoid) for 4 hrs.  Now he's sleeping on me & morning EASY routine has been fine.

They say you can't spoil a baby, right?  I'm trying to believe this but it sounds like we are (at least for daytime only sleeping when held).  Any tips?
