B.O.B. Strollers

What are people's thoughts on BOB strollers? I have seen many other brands mentioned, but no one has mentioned the BOB. Husband & I are both pretty avid runners, so I planned on investing and using it as an everything stroller. All the reviews online are fairly positive, other than needing to buy the accessories which on some models come standard....

Ok, so again...what are people's thoughts?

Re: B.O.B. Strollers

  • LOVE.  Love, love, LOVE.  Great for jogging, but also great for trips to the zoo, mall, etc.  We have been able to get by with only a snap-n-go (for quick grocery runs when DS was 0-12 mos) and the BOB, and man it is awesome.  It is a MUCH smoother ride than anything else we tried (or borrowed), and is worth every penny.

We bought our BOB new, but I also (already) bought a BOB duallie (double stroller) for when DC arrives.  If you are patient, you can find great deals on Craigslist, and these things hold up so well, I wouldn't worry about buying used.

  • My friend with twins swears by her double BoB for every day use. She's not a runner. FYI when my DD was an infant there was a big study on not using jogging strollers for running (fine for walks) with infants under 1 due to their limited head/neck control. Not sure if anything has changed since then but may be worth looking into.

  • I don't own one myself but a friend of mine has one and she's always raving about it.  She just bought one for her DD and likes it much better than her old stroller.

  • oooh - one other thing: make sure to buy the BOB "revolution" - our BOB is so versatile because the front wheel isn't fixed (though you can set it to be fixed when you go running).  When the front wheel is set to swivel, the maneuverability is AWESOME.  We have a dog, and I've gone entire walks (3+ miles) pushing the BOB with only one hand, no problem.  This is almost impossible with most other strollers.

BOB also sells a fixed front-wheel stroller, don't buy that.  Also be careful if you buy used to confirm that it's a revolution, not fixed wheel.  Sometimes people are sloppy/sneaky with their listings.

I was worried about this, too - my pediatrician said you can't have the baby just sitting in the stroller for jogging, but you have the carseat adapter and baby is in his/her carseat in the BOB, it's totally safe.  Very good point, though, because jogging with babies under 12 mos in most other strollers is NOT a good idea.

  • We have a Bob Revolution and love it.  Neither DH or I are runners, but we do lots of strolling over bad sidewalks, on grass, on the beach, and through the snow.  It's never let us down.  It has fantastic shocks, isn't heavy to push, and is just so smooth.  We use it all the time but I do have another smaller stroller that I use when we go to stores or tight spaces.  It's slightly heavy to get in and out of the car, not too bad though.  Folds really easily.  For our family it's a must have.  The only downside I can think of is that we had a Chicco infant car seat which isn't compatible with their infant adaptor.  I love our car seat, but it would have been nice to use it with this stroller.  We didn't put DS in the Bob until he was 6 months.  Overall though I highly recommend them.  If you're a runner you might want to test the different models to see which one works best for you.  I have nothing but great things to say about the revolution.

  • I've heard nothing but the best things about these strollers. Unfortunately they are out of our price range.

  • This is the stroller I plan on getting!  Heard nothing but great reviews about the quality.  FYI - the 2011 line of BOBs come out tomorrow; I have heard that they are compatible with more infant car seats than the current models.

Personally, I'm also hoping that the new line comes with some of the accessories, as having to buy all the "add-ons" was the only negative I've heard.

  • I am a FTM so I don't have any personal experience but people around me love them!  We have brick sidewalks so the big wheels are ideal.  I know the DH is really excited about running with the LO (once they are old enough).

We plan on getting at least 2 strollers and this will be one of them for sure.

  • We are in love with the revolution! I droll every time I see a Mom walking with one :-). I see them A LOT here!  They are expensive, but it is well worth the expense to us. DH jogs and we walk/hike a lot so something versatile is needed. We are saving in other areas to make up for the expense.

Good to know about the Chicco . . . that's what I was leaning toward. Hopefully the 2011 will hold it.

  • love mine!!!  i have the duallie now but i went with a less expensive brand when i just had one child - i knew we would have 2 close together and need a double.  we are outdoorsy people and DH and i both run - ours has quite a few miles on it and still works like it is brand new.

  • My sister-in-law has the Revolution and loves it. They live in the city and she walks a lot on bumpy, uneven sidewalks and she loves how it handles. The only other thing I know is that you need to have a tire pump handy to inflate the wheels from time to time, but most jogging strollers are like that. Her stroller also needed to be repaired, and she called the BOB company and they told her to take it to the closest R.E.I store to have it fixed. She did not buy it there, but they fixed it for free, I believe.

We need a new stroller this time, but I haven't decide if we are going to buy a BOB, but I am definitely considering one after my sister-in-law's rave reviews.

  • I have several friends who have them and love them. I don't jog and I find that sometimes as a non-BOB owner (it's very common in our town...seems like everyone has them) that they are a little longer than I would want for shopping and such. But I know that the people who have them love them.

  • Our friends have a BOB Revolution & LOVE it! They have a single & just bought a double on CL b/c of having their 2nd...H & I love it after looking at theirs & discussing it / opening & closing it...we're hoping to find a used one on CL...I really want one!
  • This was my big splurge and the one thing I was really excited to get.  They were (not sure if they still are) 15% off at REI, BRU, and I am sure other places.

I got the Revolution in black.  I am a big runner, and all of my runner friends with kids have them.  My friends did suggest to purchase a snap and go stroller also, since it is really light and easy to take places quickly.

If you go to the Bob website, it lists all the car seats that adapt with the Bob.  You have to purchase a car seat adapter too.  We are planning on registering for the car seat adapter, cup holders (it doesn't come with these) and a rain cover (I am from Seattle).  I have read that it is ok to run with your baby in the Bob starting at 6 months, even though I have friends who run with their 2 month olds- this isn't recommended though.

    Hope this helps!

  • My BFF has the BOB and LOVES it.  It really works for her lifestyle (hiking, running, etc...).  I think that it is great, I really like how it moves/turns (turns on a dime).  We are not getting it, b/c it is not really right for what we need (small/city stroller).

If we lived where she does, we would get it.
