Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

When did you change to forward facing?

Abby is 14 months old and 23 pounds. Her feet are touching the seat now so we are considering turning her around. When did you?

TIA

Re: When did you change to forward facing?

  • DD is 22 lbs, and 13 months- I am in no hurry to flip her forward, I will try to hold out until she reaches the weight limit for her seat (which is 35 lbs) for rear facing or maybe around 2 I will consider it.  It doesnt matter if their feet touch the seat- they will fold their legs indian style. I would much rather have broken legs then a broken neck. I am not trying to start a debate with FF vs. RF I know this can be a touchy subject.

  • A lot of women on this board are passionate about this issue--and keeping a LO rear-facing until at least age 2.

In my DH's car (a Jetta) my DS is rear facing because we honestly couldn't get him (and an adult in the front seat) into the car without him SCREAMING and crying the entire ride.  In my car (a Saturn Aura) he is still rear-facing--and he's in my car most often.  He's a very tall 17.5 month old and still fits in my car with his feet touching the back seat.

  • Mine are still RF- but one isn't 20lbs yet.  I'm shooting for 2, but if they hit 2 and are still content, I'll leave them.  It helps that DD#1 is FF in the middle and is very amusing to them.
