So before I got pregnant, I was by no means fantatical about my apparence, but I did get my nails done every week, a facial/massage every month, and a haircut every 3 months or so.
Now that the boys are here and the only time I have with them are the weekends, all that went out the window. Dh has no issues about watching them for a few hours while I go get my nails done on Saturdays, but I feel horrible about taking further time away from them.
Is there anything you guys do for yourself on a regular basis?
Re: Try again - How much me time do you take?
I exercise most days, and get haircuts every 6 weeks (cut and color = about 3 hours at salon on a Sunday).
You need to take time for you. It is healthy to show your kids what being a 'complete' person is like, which includes taking time for yourself.
Nope...not me. I am normally a person who cuts her hair and wears cute styles every few months. The last time I had a "cute style" was Spring 2008!!! I just haven't been able to get it done. I SAH part time (work evenings/weekends) so getting to do it when Hayden was a baby was almost impossible. My hair is quite long now without really any style. It is my hope that this spring (when he is 2) I will be able to go get it cut and styled again. He will be old enough to sit and play while we are there (I hope!!!)
ETA: I do scrapbook which is my "thing". I do a lot of it at home (when he is napping) but I have gone to crops and just done that for myself a few times. It is great to get away sometimes.
I gave up things like nails and the like. I get my hair cut every 3 months.
I've been doing better taking time for myself to do those things that really destress me. For the most part, that means quilting, so I'll take her to my parents and spend time quilting every other week. I watch my own TV shows, I chill, and work to my hearts content.
No doubt, it makes me a better Momma.
I do get my haircut every 6-8 weeks, but other than that I don't really do anything else with much regularity. I used to get a pedicure about once every 1-2 months. Now I pretty much only do it for a special occasion or vacation.
But I was never regular with anything like facial or massage before.
ETA: I have dinner with a group of girls from college once a month and we went to Gulf Shores together in September, we're going to try for an annual trip. And I also have Bunco once a month, it's a mother daughter bunco with aunts/cousins.

I've never been a nails person, but I get my hair cut every eight weeks.
I try to do "girl stuff" with friends or my mom and sisters a few times a month.
Unfortunately, most of my "me" time is spent doing homework. I try to do as much as I can during pumping breaks at work, but my class this semester is going to kill me.
I also volunteer by organizing and editing the newsletter for the dog rescue group that DH and I have worked with for years. Thankfully, it's just a quarterly newsletter, so that's only about four or five hours every third month.

I take at least a few hours a week to myself and it really helps keep me sane. I workout 3-4 times a week but I am in the house so that doesn't really count!
This weekend I went to lunch with a friend and got pedicures. I don't do that regularly in the winter but I go at least once a month during the flip flop wearing months. I get my hair trimed every 8-12 weeks, it will eventually be more often than that once it starts growing at a normal pace again. I also try and sneak out Saturday morning to get the grocery shopping done while Jax is taking his first nap and DH is still asleep, if I have enough time I even go and get myself breakfast somewhere. This weekend DH and I are dropping Jax off at my mom's and going into Philly for the auto show, lunch, and we may even see a movie afterwards.
DH would watch him even more but then I feel like I don't get in enough time on the weekends. When we are all home and I haven't been out in a while or I don't feel like going out I go into the basement and read while they hang out upstairs.
Daycare is SO exhausting!

I used to get my nails done w/ my Mom every Saturday but now I get them done if we have somewhere special to go to or vacation etc. I also used to get my toes done once a month. I still do that during the summer but don't get a pedicure as often during the winter. I still get a haircut every 6-8 weeks(my best friend comes to my house to cut my hair). I get a massage probably 4 times a year, usually when we are on vacation. I buy new makeup every couple of months even if its just a new lip gloss, etc.
But a few months after I had the babies, I had not done any of this and realized I needed to keep up to make myself look/feel better and for my sanity!
Um...brush my teeth twice a day and shower?
I get my hair cut every 8 wks, but I do that on my lunch hour. I've never been a mani/pedi/facial person mainly due to money, but Claire and I love to paint our toenails together (read: Mommy do toes!!!).
Starting when our LO was around 8 months old I started doing more regular grooming habits (partly because I was also back at work and it was more important that I look put together). I get a haircut every 3-4 months, no color, but not due to time/$, more that I just am ok with my natural color right now. I would get haircuts more often but my hair is very long so it's not really necessary to maintain a particular shape. I was getting bang trims in the salon once a month but am growing them out again.
When it was warmer out I would get a pedicure and eyebrow wax once every 6 weeks or so, but not anymore, partly due to weather (re: pedicures), partly because I avoid stuff like that when pregnant.
I now take about 15-20 minutes for myself in the morning to do makeup and stuff (my hair is pretty wash and go and I shower at night after he's in bed).
I used to shop, have dinner with the girls, get my nails done each week, go to the gym 5-6 times a week. Read- actual books ( not parenting ones) and actual magazines ( not parenting ones), take baths, long hot showers, watch movies,go out to dinner, drink tons of wine...
Now:
I don't do any of that! LOL>
a 15 minute shower is a luxury, I canceled netflix, have gotten 1 manicure in 7 months ( for D's Christening) I am lucky to get on the treadmill 3 times a week!
With working, I just don't want to spend anymore time away from him. DH tells me to go do things, but I would rather hang with the little man. So, it is funny, every now and then I'l get the itch to do something from my "old life", but I don't even really care... Funny how perspective changes.
I don't really consider getting my hair cut/colored me time since it's a necessity but I do that every couple months:o)
Otherwise, I try to do something with my girlfriends at least once every two months or more. I feel like I've finally gotten to a point where I don't feel some level of guilt heading out with my friends (it helps that DS is usually asleep by the time I leave).
