Do you use a separate potty chair or just the cover for the regular toilet?

We have a potty chair with a detachable top to it that you can put on the regular toilet (can't think of what it's called).  We have a bathroom upstairs and down and I'd like to have something for DD in each one.

So far we just have the potty chair upstairs and I have detached the top part a couple times when I tried to get her to use the toilet downstairs and just put that on the toilet downstairs.

We haven't really started PT yet but will in a few weeks so just wondering what you all did and if your LO liked the separate potty chair better or the regular toilet!

    My dd likes both. We have a little Baby Bjorn potty and 2 foldable potty seats. Shes used the foldable potty seat at home and we keep one in the diaper bag so she can go while out and about too and have the same seat. She goes back and forth with big optty and little potty though.
