How long did you keep your child in the separate infant tub? I'd love to find something to let him sit up in the tub now without me having to support/protect him the whole time. I looked online and found some bath seats...anybody tried these? Am I being silly and jumping the gun? Should I just keep him in his baby tub for now?
This is one of the things I was looking into (doesn't look comfy...):
Re: Bathtime questions
The twins started using a tub seat like that around 5 months but by the time they were trying to pull to stand we stopped using it, so say 9 months! Brady was not able to use this as early because of some delays he had.
I don't think you are jumping the gun with this at all. The one I used had more cushing around the bar in that goes inbetween the legs. For some reason Preston thought it was funny push forward and hit his penis against it.
We used a seat like that for Ava when she was probably 6 months or so. I hated it -- so big and bulky (and annoying if you share a shower with your LOs). I also found that it made it really difficult for me to wash her body.
For the twins, we kept them in the infant tub a bit longer (7 1/2 months, maybe?), until they were really able to sit up well by themselves. Now when I bathe them (separately), Ijust put a few inches of water in. I sit them up and keep one hand on them (I'm there for support, but I'm not really holding them up at all) while I wash them.
HTH!
Once Jake was too big for the infant tub, but could sit up, we moved to the blow up ducky tub.

It was perfect for containing him until I was brave enough to move to the full size tub at 1 year.

I just turn it upright and stick it over by the faucet to get it out of the way. It also has a hook to hang it up.

It offers good support for sitters and keeps them from bumping their noggin on things or falling over.
They arrived at 36 weeks after PTL and bedrest for 14 weeks.
We moved Reed to the big tub really early and didn't use a bath seat at all. We just put about 2 inches of water in the tub and laid him back in the water...I supported his head with one hand and bathed him with the other for awhile. Then I just started laying him down in the water like he was swimming (we had taken him swimming in the pool by then)...at about 6 months...Eventually we bathed him sitting up, but again, we just supported him. We did have one of those soft bath mats that you put into the tub, but i found it really annoying. I used it maybe 3 times.
What about bathing him in the sink?
Thanks ladies!! I was shying away from the inflatable tub since our bathroom is tiny and storage is a problem...but after reading reviews of some of the products, it looks like thats the way to go for us...our tub bottom has non-slib stuff on it, so I'm guessing the bath chairs wouldn't stick to it anyways. Thanks!
(and Dundas, I would have loved to do sink baths, but our kitchen sink is ancient and the enamel is worn off...so its stained and skeeves me out too much to put my baby in
