How did you get your LO to transfer from wherever he/she was sleeping before into their crib? For the last 2 weeks my LO has been sleeping in his swing, and I don't know how to get him to switch from the swing to the crib. I'm trying right now to have him take his nap in the crib, but he's not liking it at all, hahaha. Do you have any pointers or tips? Am I starting him in the crib too soon?
(FYI, I'm NOT letting him CIO, since there has been MUCH debate, arguing and fighting about when to have LO CIO. I know he's too young, so don't ask/assume that I'm doing that!)
Re: Getting LO to sleep in his crib?
We transitioned at 8 weeks and started with naps. It took a couple weeks and then we moved to the crib at night.
I honestly don't remember how we did it, I just remember it took time and patience. Good luck!

There's no such thing as starting LO in the crib too soon, DD has always slept in her crib at night. My LO usually naps in the swing although I occasionally try to put her down in her crib; the swing gets her to sleep so much faster though! Try the 5 S's (swaddle, shush, swinging/swaying, side, suck - Happiest Baby on the Block) to calm him down enough to sleep. One thing I've finally learned is to follow LO's sleep cues - as soon as she yawns, I try to put her down for a nap. See below for the an awake time guide...this includes feeding, diaper change, play time and the time it takes to fall asleep again. Your LO may need more or less awake time, but you can use this as a guide. Someone has some great sleep tips in her siggy but I cannot remember her name! Hopefully she'll post :-)
Guideline for Awake time for babies
Newborn 50-60 mins
1 month 60 mins-hour and 15
2 months 1 hour and 15 - 20 mins
3 months 1 hour and 20 - 30 mins
4 months 1 hour and 45 - 2 hours
5 months 2 hours - 2.25 hours
Late 5 months/early 6 months 2.25-2.5 hours
6.5 - 7 months 2.75-3 hours. Some are getting more.
8 - 10 months 3 - 4 hours. Some are getting more.
11 - 12 months 3.5 -4.5 hours. Some are getting more if moved early to 1 nap
We made the transition at 2 months old. My choice since I return to work when he is 3 months old, wanted time in case he gave us problems. We got VERY lucky cuz he started sleeping 6-7 hrs in his crib from night 1!!!! I will say though that we started using the Swaddle me's for this and they work wonders. Good luck!
Thanks for posting this. I've seen it before on this board, but couldn't find it.

LO still isn't the best at napping in his crib but sleeps great at night. He was in his swing until 5 weeks and took to the change very easily. We started the night time rountine and he has put himself to sleep every night.
Go to his room with just the lamp on his end table on. Diaper change, pj's, swaddle, bottle (usually just a snack but depends on how hungry he is), read a book or two until he is starting to fall asleep. Put him down in his crib with a paci, rub his belly a little for comfort then walk out. He has a sleep sheep and watches his mobile. Sometimes he will fuss if his paci falls out before he falls asleep so I just go back in and return the paci then walk back out.
