When is your baby shower?

We were talking about mine yesterday and set a date. The shower is going to be May 22, and I am due June 11. Are those two dates too close to each other? This is my first pregnancy and none of my friends have had children yet... so I'm clueless.

Im Due June 10th- and mine is May 1st.

I actually would have liked it end of mid/late April, but May 1st works fine, I personally didn't want to go any later {closer to Due Date} because I figure I'll be more uncomfortable towards the end. And Im assuming we'll have to return a few things, and I dont want to be in a rush towards the end, I'd rather do it while I've still got time & somewhat comfortable Smile This is our first as well

I'll have one with my family in Indiana in March (so I can still travel safely), and one here for friends and family in Utah in May. I think May is a good month to do it. Then if you have to make returns or whatever, you'll have plenty of time to get ready for baby!

We are debating between April 10 and May 1. We want to avoid the weekends in between, due to Easter and spring break (when some of my friends with kids might be going away). I think we're leaning toward April, since my sister will have finals in May, and she is planning my shower with my Mom.

Mine is mid-April. May 22 may or may not be too late. Many first time moms go past their due date so you could very well be just fine. But you never know. You could give birth early or be put on bed rest.

My hometown shower is March 12 because it's the last time I'll be there before baby. Not sure when my local shower is yet -- my friends were talking late April or early May.

My family in California are throwing me one in mid March (last solo trip for me for a loooooong time), work is throwing me one in mid April and my SIL is throwing a really casual non traditional bbq at the end of April. I am due June 3rd. I hope I am not going to be showered out but how can you say no when people offer.

True! I am thinking of calling my aunt who is throwing the shower to see if I could move it up a couple weeks, I thought those dates were a little too close to each other. Thank you ladies for all your help!

We're having mine April 9, due date June 13 basically due to all the craziness that ensues at the end of the school year (I'm a teacher) and I coach track. But I think May 22 still should give you adequate time to get things arranged and do some exchanges and what not.

May 22 may be pushing it, but go for it if you think you'll be comfortable. I am having my hometown shower in Ohio the first weekend in April so that I can still fly. I think my other showers will be in April too.

Mine is April 3rd (due June 3rd), because 1) I don't to be huge and uncomfortable, like I've seen many of my friends at their showers, and 2) I want to have plenty of time to get what we still need after the shower.

I'm due June 1st. We are thinking mid-april, before Easter. I'm hoping I can avoid a May shower. I figure at 36+ weeks I could be miserable and uncomfortable, and the weather will be warmer.

We are going to move it to May 8. I just don't want to be uncomfortable or possibly a mother by the time my shower finally rolls around. Thanks for all your help ladies!

When I saw May 22nd, my eyes bugged out a little! lol That would be way too late for my liking but I'm a planner and want lots of time to get things organized before baby comes. I'm also due a week before you but that's not much difference when it really comes down to it. My showers are April 2nd and 16th and I would have preferred even a couple weeks earlier!

I am due June 12 and have my shower scheduled for March 19 (about 28 weeks).

I wanted to be sure I would still have energy and be able to move around and be comfortable. I also wanted to have time to return things and purchase the things I still need before I get too big and uncomfortable to do that. I am waiting to purchase most items until after the shower as well because I don't want to end up with doubles. Im hoping to have everything I need and have the nursery complete by 34 weeks so I can relax the last month or so without any worries.

it was going to be mid April but I think they want to change it now to around 27 weeks for me since with the complications there is a chance she will come early. So around March.

My friends have been begging me to let them have a shower so I said only if it was a boy they could. Well, it's a boy so they're excited. We're doing it either April 30th or May 1st. The weekend before is Easter and the weekend after is Mother's Day and I don't want it earlier or later than that so it works perfect.

Mine will be June 4th ... 3,5 weeks before I'm due. It's the earliest we can do it because my MIL own be back north until Memorial Day weekend. It's gonna be really difficult to stop myself from buying most of the stuff on our registry before then!

No exact dates yet, but it looks like friends/co-workers will be having one mid-april, then MIL will have one for her extended family (which is HUGE) mid-may.

We did the same thing for my bridal shower, because MIL invited over 45 people from her extended family, leaving me with no room for friends.

I actually am having 3 (one my mother is doing, one my fathers side is throwing and one my DH side is throwing.) The first is March 19, the second is April 23 and the last one is after the baby is here. I am due June 3 and felt having a shower in May was too close. My aunts wedding is May 7 (i will be 36 weeks) having a shower after that would stress me out to get everything washed and put away and set up. let alone buy all the things i still need that i didnt get at a shower. March is slightly early, but bc of my aunts wedding i have to work around her showers and etc.

May 22 seems a little late to me, since you'll want plenty of time to set up/organize your gifts, wash any clothes or bedding items, return things if necessary, etc. But I'm a first time mom too, so what do I know? lol

My shower will be either April 9 or 16. My spring break is April 11-15 and my mom will be flying into town for the shower, so I wanted to pick a time when I will have time to spend with her.

I do think that is too close together. But then again, I'm a planner and like to have everything done asap.

But you may go into labor early..

Due June 5th but having my shower on April 3rd... I want to make sure everything is in place before baby gets here... I think having it later would stress me out too much... gives us time to organize and take stuff back.

I am sure that my co-workers will have one for me before I am due, but I don't know when!

My family is having mine on April 30th and I am due on June 16th so a month and a half away from my due date. (My mom had me 3 weeks before I was due, and there is a history of early arrivals in my family, so we wanted to be safe!)
