Poor DS is barely 5 months old. He got an ear infection 3 weeks ago, started antibiotics. It took a few days (always worked instantly with DD) for us to notice it getting better. Then it started getting worse again. So we went back Thursday, pedi said his ears are horrible. Gave him an antibiotic shot & some nasty strong antibiotic but DS is STILL pulling on the really bad ear. Pedi said that we have to go back when the 10 days are up. Apparently, if it's not gone then he'll need tubes? He's got to have eyelid surgery which is depressing enough for me but the pedi did say they could do the surgeries at the same time.
Re: Ear infections that won't go away.....tubes already? :(
I do not know if it would still help but our kids see a Chiropractor monthly for regular adjustments to prevent ear infections. Have you consider taking your LO to get regularly adjusted?
They have never had an infection up to now. (knock on wood)
Here is a good link about how adjustments could prevent ear infections

Before I put tubes in my 5 month old, I would definitely see an ENT for a second opinion. Good luck...poor baby!
Also, if your baby is a day care baby, you may want to look into another center. I have 2 friends who had health issues with their LO in (the same) day care. The center wasn't clean enough and they were both always sick. As soon as they switched centers, their LO were finally healthy. Just another thought...
THIS! I work for a chiropractor and we treat babies all the time! Of course some right from the start (like my LO) and others who super close to getting tubes.
My cousin's baby was getting ear infections all the time and went for a consult about getting tubes, I begged her to come in and get treated and she's been fine ever since!
